SCP retroBreach PC Controls

PC control philosophy

On PC, SCP retroBreach feels closest to a classic Roblox FPS with Containment Breach interaction habits. You need clean look control, reliable sprint, fast interact confirms, and inventory discipline. Sandbox Engine is still in beta, so treat every key listed here as community-typical defaults that you must confirm in your own settings menu after patches.

This page expands the controls hub. Console players should use console controls instead of forcing keyboard advice onto a gamepad.

Core movement and camera

ActionTypical PC inputWhy it matters
MoveWASDStrafe corners in LCZ and HCZ
LookMouseTrack SCPs and rifle peeks
SprintShiftBreak chase and cross Tesla approaches
Jump / crouchSpace / Ctrl (verify)Mantle and shrink hit profile
Walk modifierOptional Alt (verify)Quiet approaches when available

Spend five minutes in a quiet round adjusting mouse sensitivity until you can track a sprinting Class-D across an Entrance Zone hallway without over-flicking into a wall. High sensitivity looks flashy and loses Gate B duels.

Interact, inventory, and pickup UI

ActionTypical PC inputNotes
Interact / confirm pickupEDoors, items, world prompts
InventoryTabCards, guns, meds management
Hotbar select1–9 / scrollKeep escape card reachable
Drop / swapFollow on-screen promptChristmas UI: hover then E

The Christmas update explicitly documented hover-over-item then press E (or tap the prompt) to grab or swap. That matters when two guns and a keycard share a corpse pile. If you mash E without hovering the right item, you will pocket junk and leave the Level 4 on the floor.

Inventory mistakes that end runs:

  • Burying the highest keycard under cosmetics or duplicate pistols.
  • Opening Tab in a Tesla approach.
  • Forgetting which slot holds grenades during Class-D Riot.
  • Confirming the wrong world pickup while an SCP is audible around the corner.

Combat keys (human roles)

ActionTypical PC inputNotes
FireLMBSemi-auto wants paced clicks on PC
Aim / alternateRMBVerify ADS behaviour per gun
ReloadRPre-load before Gate B
Melee / utilityV / G / F (verify)Flashlights, NVG toggles, etc. vary

Weapon balance shifts with patches — Christmas alone retuned several magazines and damages and added Saiga-12, FAMAS, HK416, XM8, AKM, AKS-74U, and Makarov into spawns and SCP-914 upgrades. Your finger skills transfer; your spray pattern assumptions might not. Skim patch notes when guns feel “wrong.”

Mobile note (if you ever switch devices): patch notes state that holding fire on semi-autos can repeatedly shoot for mobile users. That is not an excuse to hold LMB on PC and expect the same helper behaviour.

SCP ability keys

Anomaly roles replace or extend the human kit. Exact binds differ by SCP and can change in beta. Practical habits:

  • Find the ability / attack control the moment you spawn as an SCP — do not discover it in EZ.
  • Some roles intentionally disable first-person viewmodels (patch notes call out cases like SCP-173 for future handling).
  • SCP-457’s damage model moved to raycasting so it cannot burn through walls the old way; ability positioning matters more than hugging doors.
  • SCP-106 teleport rules were tightened around low HP thresholds — ability timing is not the same as older rBreach muscle memory.
  • If the attack button fails to appear, remember Christmas bug fixes targeted missing SCP attack UI and mobile walkspeed issues; rejoin if the round is soft-locked.

Never share one static “SCP keybind chart” as eternal truth while the game is in beta. Re-open settings when Sandbox Engine ships ability reworks.

Mode-by-mode PC focus

Containment Breach

You will alternate between E-spamming loot, Shift-sprinting from audio cues, and gunfights. Practise the sequence: glance, hover item, E, Tab-sort card to slot 1, continue moving. Players who full-stop to organise inventory in LCZ feed SCPs.

Class-D Riot

Reload and grenade binds win early. Security players should bind comfort for spraying into cell exits. Class-D should keep meds on an easy hotkey before pushing HCZ.

Council Rescue

O5-style high clearance means more door interacts under stress. Misclicking E on a useless prop while SCP audio spikes is a common PC death. Slow the camera, confirm the prompt, then sprint.

Settings checklist after every patch

  1. Reconfirm E / Shift / Tab still match your memory.
  2. Test pickup hover in the lobby or early LCZ.
  3. Check whether NVG or special gear toggles moved — Eta-10 NVG persistence bugs have existed before.
  4. Re-sense mouse DPI if you changed monitors.
  5. Read the controls hub summary for console friends so you can callouts without saying “just press E” into a gamepad lobby.

Training route for new PC players

  1. Join a low-stakes server and only practise loot confirms for one LCZ clear.
  2. Run the escape routes Gate B path while forcing yourself to reload before the elevator.
  3. Spawn as an SCP once and only practise ability keys — ignore win rate.
  4. Play one Class-D Riot round focused on grenade and reload timing.
  5. Skim facility zones so landmark callouts match what your hands can execute.

Master PC inputs, then let map knowledge take over. SCP retroBreach punishes players who have great aim and terrible interact timing.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for SCP retroBreach players.

What do E, Shift, and Tab usually do?

E interacts and confirms pickups, Shift sprints, and Tab opens inventory on typical PC layouts. Always verify in settings during beta.

How do I pick up the correct item after the Christmas update?

Hover the item you want, then press E or use the prompt to grab or swap. Blind mashing can select the wrong gun or leave a keycard behind.

Do SCP keys match Class-D keys?

Movement overlaps, but anomalies add ability and attack inputs. Test them immediately when you spawn as an SCP.

Can beta patches change my binds?

Yes. SCP retroBreach is in active beta. Recheck the settings menu after major updates listed on patch notes.

Where do I find console bind help?

Use the console controls page instead of this PC guide.

What should I practise first on keyboard?

Hover-and-E pickups, Shift chases, and Tab card sorting on an LCZ clear, then run Gate B using escape routes.
