Weapons Guide

Firearm economy in a containment FPS

Weapons turn SCP retroBreach from a walking simulator into a Sandbox Engine gunfight. This page catalogs how guns enter rounds—loadouts, world spawns, corpses, and SCP-914—and how factions should spend them. For pure rankings, open the weapons tier list. For doors that make guns matter, read keycards. Return to the Items Hub for the full loot picture.

The embedded overview, All Guns In RetroBreach & Their Stats, is a practical visual companion; use it to sanity-check damage and magazine feel after patches.

How guns appear

  • Faction loadouts for Security, MTF, Chaos Insurgency, GOC, and some mode elites.
  • Map spawns in LCZ/HCZ/EZ armories and shelves.
  • SCP-914 Fine / 1:1 / Coarse chains that move weapons between tiers.
  • Pickups from dead players—the most honest crafting system in the game.

Many weapons now spawn with multiple reserve magazines (commonly three, with room toward four). Support holdouts like M249-style kits may carry thinner reserves—shoot with a plan.

Primary spotlight

Saiga-12

Close-range king for LCZ riots, armory doors, and Gate B interiors. Pellets punish Class-D clumps and scare SCP-173 peek wars in tight rooms. Weak in long EZ sightlines—swap to a rifle when rotating topside.

FAMAS

Burst-friendly mid fighter. Clears checkpoints and peels SCP-049 zombies before melee range. Excellent default for MTF laners who must watch two halls.

HK416

Stable carbine for players who win aim duels. Best “standard issue” fantasy for Foundation response stacks. Do not Coarse-gamble it mid-chase unless you like Makarov regret.

XM8

Flexible assault option for mobile CI and Security rotations. Forgiving on console-assisted lobbies and messy HCZ peeks.

AKM

Hard-hitting Chaos Insurgency favorite. Higher recoil asks for corner bracing. Deletes soft Foundation targets quickly when escorts need space.

AKS-74U

Compact carbine for maintenance tunnels and SCP-914 room CQB. Outclassed by Saiga-12 in pure shotgun range and by HK416 at distance—still a huge upgrade over pistols.

Secondary spotlight

Desert Eagle

High damage pistol for finishers and Council Rescue flavor. Tiny magazine forgiveness. Carry beside a primary; never treat it as your anti-SCP-096 plan.

Makarov

Emergency sidearm. Class-D starter energy. Replace at the first crate.

Other pool notes

Balancing notes have touched M4A1-style damage, Beretta 93R, Mac-10, Kriss Vector, and KS-23M. Treat patch day as a re-read day—numbers move while names stay.

Faction loadout advice

Class-D — Anything > fists; Saiga-12 turns riots.
Foundation — Hand S-tier rifles to the best aimer; keep a sidearm for emergencies.
MTF / Security — HK416 / FAMAS cores, Saiga-12 for holds, NVG battery saved for SCP-096 / SCP-966.
Chaos Insurgency — AKM / XM8 aggression plus utility on Gate B.
GOC — Volume fire and explosives over pistol flex.
Serpent’s Hand — Still respect human gun tiers when supporting playable SCPs.

SCP-914 gun rules of thumb

  1. Guard the machine.
  2. Upgrade spares first.
  3. Learn which settings raise tiers versus brick them.
  4. Leave before LCZ decontamination.
  5. Never AFK while SCP-106 can walk through the door.

Fighting anomalies with bullets

Guns delay; they do not replace discipline. Watchers beat SCP-173. Optics blunt SCP-096 / SCP-966. Doors cut SCP-457 rays. Health management reduces SCP-106 pockets. Focus fire deletes SCP-049 snowballs. Pair this page with the SCP tier list.

Ammo and reload culture

Reload behind a teammate, not in an open atrium. Keep one magazine for retreat. Call “last mag” before you challenge Gate B. Mobile players can hold semi-auto fire inputs for repeated shots—still aim between clicks.

TIX reminder

Weapon skins and operator cosmetics bought with TIX do not raise damage. The Saiga-12 on the floor beats the shop flex in your inventory menu.

Practice loop

Spend a session only looting—no unnecessary SCP hunts—until you can name where armories sit relative to checkpoints. Next session, force yourself to drop C-tier pistols the moment an A-tier rifle appears. Then play CI escorts and notice how gun quality changes Class-D survival.

When rankings disagree with your lobby, re-open the weapons tier list after the latest Sandbox Engine notes and compare again.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for SCP retroBreach players.

What are the best guns in SCP retroBreach?

Saiga-12, FAMAS, and HK416 lead most rounds. See the Weapons Tier List for full S–C rankings.

Where do new guns like XM8 and AKM come from?

They appear in spawns, faction loadouts, and SCP-914 upgrade paths after Sandbox Engine additions.

Is Desert Eagle a primary replacement?

No. It is a high-damage secondary or mode flavor sidearm. Keep a real rifle or shotgun.

How many magazines should I expect?

Many weapons start with about three reserve magazines and can hold near four; some support guns are stingier.

Should Class-D use SCP-914 for guns?

Yes if the room is safe. Upgrade junk pistols carefully and leave before decontamination or SCP ambushes.
